My Summer Garden Before and After

This month celebrates one year in our new house. It also marks six months for my garden, which we started to more seriously build in January. Though we have probably years ahead of us in further projects for the property, I'm really happy with the progress we made in a few short months and the plants I've been able to get in the ground. This week instead of a lengthy story or how-to, I thought I'd post a set of before and after photos of some of our big changes and favorite plants.
So without further ado....my garden in pictures.

A shot of the main beds in the backyard. Wow, what a difference in a few short months! There are still lots of projects to do, like the stairs that will go between the beds up to the second level.

These are the first tomatoes I've ever started from seed. They were started indoors in January and got planted out in March. Just in the week since I took this picture, they are already to the top of the trellis, and the fruits are beginning to blush!

This bed was not in the original plan, but with the tree already taking up that space, it just made sense to utilize the area more efficiently. the bricks were a donation from a friend, which luckily made it a very cost effective addition.

Hey look, the rare and elusive front yard project! This was a small unused box along the front of the children's garden and chicken yard. I cleaned it up and planted some corn and a pumpkin to decorate and to give the kids some fun come autumn!
Welp, folks, that's all we have today! Thanks for joining me on the two-bit tour! We'll see you next blog post with some helpful advice on what to do, and NOT do with carrots if you live in the hot south. Love,
Beth
